figure: Viewers loved you guest-hosting "The View." How was it sitting there with Barbara and the bunch?
I tell you, it's terrifying. Right before they go "...and you're watching The View!" I feel like I'm going to throw up all over the floor. Every single time. I'm in my dressing room calling my best friend going, "You gotta pray with me. Why did they pick me for this show? I don't know anything about world events. Oh my God, Michael Richards just said the N word. I don't want to be the representative for the black people." Freaking out. But once I sit at the table and we start talking I go, "It's OK. It's OK to be me. It's enough." Then I'm alright.
figure: You sure seem pulled together. I mean, feeling up Rosie O'Donnell on national television takes some confidence ...
Oh, she was talking to Kelly Ripa about that Clay Aiken thing and she was so mad, somebody had to diffuse the situation! So I went for it. Just grabbed her boobs and hoped she didn't curse me out during the commercial break.
figure: Did she?
Oh, no. She's got a great sense of humor. Rosie was like, "Sherri, you do whatever you do. I love it. I want you on here every day with me."
figure: And?
My son was born at five-and-a-half months, and he has therapy five times a week here in LA. So it's just a little tricky. Right now, I'm not considering it.
figure: What prepared you for sitting at that table?
I do have an opinion. I'm not well traveled and I don't know a bunch of celebrities. But I've struggled. I've gotten my car repoed. I've been evicted. I've been in abusive relationships. I've been in debt up to my neck. I've lived. That, and the way I look at things, prepared me. I think what we go through in life is hysterically funny.
