QUEEN LATIFAH WANTS TO RETEAM WITH STEVE MARTIN FOR ALL OF ME REMAKE

Queen Latifah is set to star in a remake of the 1984 film “All of Me,” and is hoping to have its original star, Steve Martin, grace her updated version with director Adam Shankman.

“Adam was supposed to call him; I’m not sure if he called him yet to see if he was interested,” Latifah told MTV. “I definitely want him to know about it, and see what he thinks about [doing it].”

Martin starred with Latifah in the 2003 comedy “Bringing Down the House,” which was also directed by Shankman. The actress says she’s been meeting with various screenwriters for the project, but “I haven’t decided which one we’re going to go with yet,” she says.

The original 1984 film, directed by Carl Reiner, starred Lily Tomlin as a dying millionaire who has her soul transferred into a younger, willing woman. But something goes awry, and she finds herself in the body of her lawyer, played by Martin.

QUEEN LATIFAH AT THE BET AWARDS

MO'NIQUE ON THE BET AWARDS

JORDIN SPARKS AT THE BET AWARDS

MO'NIQUE TALKS TO ESSENCE.COM

MO'NIQUE ABOUT HER WEIGHT

ESSENCE.COM: I love your confidence, but there are critics who believe that you’re only vocal about your body because you’re trying to mask your own insecurity as confidence.

MO'NIQUE: Here’s what cracks me up. If Tyra Banks, who I dig and I think is incredible, spoke of her beauty nobody would question it, but when I speak of my beauty it’s up for debate because America has said looking a certain way is a bad thing. Listen here, I dig Mo’Nique. I dig Mo’Nique’s double belly, her thighs that rub together, her arms that slap in the wind and her double chin. Now, don’t get me wrong Mo’Nique wants to be healthy, and Mo’Nique makes sure she works out and goes for her walks with her trainer, so I can walk up a flight of steps without being out of breath and not suffer from high blood pressure. The reason I am so vocal is because I’m in the public, but I ain’t trying to hide nothing like, “Let me say I love my body, even though, I’m going through a deep depression about my weight.” That’s absolutely insane.

MO'NIQUE ON LARISSA (BOOTZ) AND CHARM SCHOOL

ESSENCE.COM: Larissa “Bootz” Aurora said in an interview that you greeted the women by saying, “You’re a disgrace to Black women,” which set the negative tone between you and her, but that it was edited from that episode. Do you think that was a bit harsh?

MO'NIQUE: If Larissa can find the tape of me saying that I will resign from that show. She claims it was edited out because she didn’t even see it.

ESSENCE.COM: She also said that the contest rules were changed at the last-minute.

MO'NIQUE:Unfortunately, life has beaten up Larissa so badly at such a young age that her spirit is going through turmoil. There were no changing of rules or tricks so, no baby, that little
sister has to accept responsibility for her actions.

ESSENCE.COM: If you had the opportunity would you reconcile with Larissa?

MO'NIQUE: It puzzles me about Larissa because after we finished taping the show I sent that sister some flowers saying, “I’m still your cheerleader and I want you to get the best that life has to offer you.” But like I said life has beaten her up so bad already that she can’t see when people are in her corner.

ESSENCE.COM: Do you think she accepted the truce?

MO'NIQUE: Judging by the interview she gave ESSENCE.com, she’s still not taking responsibility for her actions. It’s always everyone else’s fault. But she’ll learn that life will bend you over and not use any Vaseline and no one will listen when you yell, “Ouch!”

GREY'S ANATOMY SARA RAMIREZ GOT MILK??

FIGURE FLATTERING SWIMSUTIES

Came across this in Essence Magazine in the May Issue. I thought this was very useful information. I believe on the beach and by a pool is a where a lot of fashion tickets get passed out at. A lot of ladies are in denial and don't want to admit that they cant fit this bathing suit anymore.
There is hope. We need to know our bodies to make a real good conscience choice about a swimming suit.

So if you have THICK WAIST, look for styles to specifically designed to slim your middle. To accomplish this the one piece suit is the way to go.
Interested in this swimsuit in the picture, then go to www.landsends.com

Ladies if you happen to have a hour glass shape, you need to look for swimsuits with lycra (elastic fiber). Also make sure you get thick straps, tops with halter ties or racebacks that give the bust a lot of support. This swimming suit came from Torrid (www.torrid.com).

MO'NIQUE'S FAT CHANCE IN PARIS THIS TIME YOU'LL

The third time is the charm for the lucky women who make the cut on season three of "Mo'Nique's F.A.T. Chance" beauty pageant, as they will be whisked off to Paris to compete in a fashion show in the fashion capital of the world. Following in the tradition of the past two seasons, the plus-sized diva personally oversees the auditions for the third annual "Mo'Nique's F.A.T. Chance" pageant, airing on July 28 on Oxygen. She spends time with each of the women, giving a hug and some love to them, one by one.

From the 20 semi-finalists, Mo'Nique will select the final five, and it is those women who will jet off to the City of Lights. And, unbeknownst to the lucky ladies, they will also compete in an all-nude body painting competition.

JILL SCOTT GETTING A DIVORCE AND TWO MOVIES

Two-time Grammy Award winning neo-soul songstress Jill Scott is going through divorce proceedings with her longtime lover and husband of five years Lyzel Williams, reports AOL’s BV Newswire. The couple married in the fall of 2001 during a private Hawaiin ceremony, while they were on vacation.
Williams was the source of inspiration for many of Scott’s music, notably the fan favorite “He Loves Me” - which has been sang onstage by Beyonce Knowles. In other Jill Scott news, the singer will play Mma Ramotswe, one of the powerful women behind Alexander McCall Smith’s series of novels, which began with The No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, in Precious Ramotswe. The TV series will be directed by Anthony Minghella, with scripts he wrote with Richard Curtis. Actor Idris Elba, who played the astute bad guy Stringer Bell in the HBO drama The Wire, will be in an episode that begins shooting in Botswana in the middle of next month.
